Hello Mr. Cahill,

The error is caused because serious errors in the registry settings of the Windows Installer. We can direct you to make the necessary changes in the registry manually but it is highly discouraged if you are not a pro user. So we will help you here by letting you install  a software that will do the job for you.

1. Install the 'Windows installer cleanup utility'.

2. Run it to fix errors with registry keys of the windows installer.

3. Uninstall MS Office by going to 'Add or Remove Programs' or do the following:

i) Click on start and select Run option (for XP/2003) or bring the cursor in the search box at the bottom.

ii) Type in 'appwiz.cpl' in the Run box or the search box.and hit Enter.

iii) Select MS Office and click on Uninstall/Remove.

4. Reinstall MS Office from the product CD.
