Hi there,

This evening in the middle of a project my sound stopped. I have changed some settings until this window appeared. I don’t know what it means so anyone can help me please by telling me how can I solve this and how can I prevent to happen again ?

Thank you !

If you previously changed some settings, then that is probably the cause why VLC media player encountered an error. If VLC media player is still running, close it then open a different media player on your computer like the Windows Media Player. Try playing a media or preferably a music file to check if your soundcard works. Verify that you hear a sound during playback.

If there is no problem with the sound, try opening VLC media player again and play a music file. If the application still throws an error similar to the previous one, reinstall the program to restore the default settings on your computer. It will restore the settings you modified that are associated to VLC media player. Uninstall VLC media player, restart your computer, and install it back.

See if this fixes the problem. Try also updating the program to the latest version. Download VLC media player 2.1.5 for Windows. It supports Windows 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows 2008 Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2 and up, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and up, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
