Hi! I attempted a PWA operation as a non-administrator and received an error message like the following:

Microsoft Project Server 2010 Category & Global Permission

” The global permission 85993afd-5430-4c0e-bdcf-12e013fa0b1e was denied for the user.”

Hi,

That is a GUID error GUID stands for Global Unique ID. A GUID is used by the software applications as a means to identify other applications, components, objects etc. It has ways and means to identify its “human name” associated with each and every GUID.

I have explained it from the blog post of Brain Smith:

  1. Copy the error message.
  2. Paste the error message to a Notepad.
  3. Then copy the GUID.
  4. Open PWA page with all the GUID’s listed.
  5. Click View menu and select Source.
  6. Search the Source page for the GUID copied at step 3.
  7. Look down a few lines below the GUID to find out the name of the New Resource.

You should get the exact GUID. To save your time I have compiled a list of all the GUID’s for all the Categories and Global Permissions, please find it attached as the text file.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.
