Hi There!

I want to create a ‘Microsoft Outlook Express’ profile. But when I start to create a profile, then a proxy setting dialog box appears.

It says to fill up the entire requirement of the total field. (Example: Proxy server address, proxy VPN, APN, port etc) But where can I get those field's information?

Hello Deer,

I am so upset to know about your problem. Now let me try to resolve your problem. Follow this instruction below :

  • Try setting POP and SMTP addresses on your OE as proxy IP's (Something like:pop.192.168.0.1.6588,smtp.192.168.0.1.6588).
  • Note that IP addresses above are just an example. You must put your own gateway address there. You can know that by running winipcfg on your own client machine.
  • Sorry but as far as I know AnalogX proxy is the sole proxy for free. I have to get rid of the proxies by setting my network to "dial-up " activating DNS host on gateway and ICS on server machine.
This is tricky to do, but it works fine and all (8 machines now ) run fine without any proxy.

Regards,

Marke Sole

Hi,

Outlook Express has no proxy settings to use. So, you will need an additional software application to configure Outlook Express for it to work through proxy servers. But other type of email clients have a way to set-up proxy, like Mozilla Thunderbird, mIRC, AOL, Yahoo Messenger, MSN and other browser applications.

Here's one way to set-up proxy server, using email client application, follow the steps:

  • Go to Tools, Accounts ;
  • Click on Mail tab and click Properties ;
  • On Server tab, type an IP address in POP/SMTP ;
  • Type 192.168.0.1 for both incoming/outgoing server ;
  • Click Settings, and tick on Log on using ;
  • Type your email address and password ;
  • If this won't work, ask for SMTP server settings from your IT and or ISP.
This should let you set-up email using Proxy.
