Hi Guys,

I am facing a tough time during the installation of MS Office 2010 Professional Plus on my system

I have been using Windows XP Professional SP3 and while installing MS Office 2010, the screen displays that 'Microsoft Office 2010 encountered an error during setup'. Is Windows XP not a compatible operating system ?

Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

Hello Himan,

You may be having those problems when installing Microsoft Office Plus 2010 for several reasons:

  • The setup application you are using to install the Microsoft Office may be corrupt. You will therefore need to check the installation CD and make sure that it does not have scratches or dust which may cause problems when it comes to reading the data from the Disc. If you are not installing from a CD, then you might want to get a new setup for Microsoft Office 2010 for the one you are using right now is corrupt.
  • If you have previous installation of Microsoft Office on your computer that may have malfunctioned, you will need to remove them completely for they may be the ones preventing the office installation to run successfully.

Regards,

Carl

Dear User,

This error mostly appears when there is a previously installed office based application isn’t removed completely.

In order to fix this. Please try the following steps,

1. Make sure you uninstall previous versions of office suite completely from your computer, if the windows cannot remove it completely. Use a third party tool to remove it.

2. After removing it you should if possible download another setup file to install office suite

3. Because the existing setup file may have some corrupted files.

4. But however this should fix your problem.

Thank you
