Hello all,

I installed Office 2003. Restarted my computer and clicked on the outlook icon, and an error message said; “Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by installing messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook.” Please see the screenshot.

I reinstalled it a few times and it said the same thing.

What’s wrong here?

Need your help.

Hi,

This problem occurs when you install then uninstall a program particularly Microsoft Outlook 2007 to a computer which has installed Microsoft Outlook 2003. There is an existing file remain in the folder on the computer after uninstalling MS Outlook 2003.

Try to follow these instructions. First, start the windows explorer then find and open the file C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemMsMapi1033. After that, right-click the MsMapi32.dll file and click Rename. Rename the file by typing Msmapi32.old and press enter to rename. Finally, Start the Outlook 2003 .

I hope this will help.

Skylabreonna,

It is very frustrating in the digital age that we are in , when you go to use something and you come up with error messages.  In order to fix this problem follow these steps:

1.  Go to your start menu

2.  Type "fixmapi.exe" in the search menu under the "All or part of the file name" (make sure to click "all files and folders"

3.  Double-click on the Fixmapi.exe to start the repair

4.  Now just follow the instructions as they come up on the screen.

This will help you to remove your error message.
