Microsoft Excel for MAC error accessing files

Hi there,

This is the error that I have when I want to open Microsoft Excel on my MAC. I never experienced this kind of error before and I don’t know how to manage this kind of error. Can anyone help me please to fix this error ? What could be the problem ?

The file could not be accessed.

Try one of the following:

Make sure the specified folder exists.

Make sure the folder that contains the file is not read only.

Make sure the file name does not contain any of the following characters: [ ] or :

Make sure the file/path name doesn’t contain more than 218 characters.

Hi ,



This error usually occurs when  you try to open a new Excel workbook on MAC.

Solution to Solve this problem is as follows:

1. Quit all programs and close all windows

2. Remove Excel Preferences

3. Perform a clean boot

4. Remove and then reinstall Office

5. Use the "Repair Disk Permissions" option

Following these steps shoud sort out the problem for you!
