Hello,

I have a Microsoft Excel file from college and I am unable to open it on my MAC. To all my colleagues works fine, but on my MAC I have this error message. If I click Open as Read-Only button the file shows like is empty. I need this file for a project so can anyone please help me to fix this ? Why I am the only one that can’t open this file ? I will have problems with another excel file in the future ?

Regards !

Hello,

This problem is occurring because of the MS Office version. The later version of MS Office, the better and improver documents. The file might have been created with later version of MS Office, for example, Office 2010 or 2013. The file might be on XLSX format which contains improver data and your old version of Office supports only XLS.

Here, from this online converter, you’ll be able to convert your file from XLSX to XLS. Then your file will surely open.

Also, if possible, get MS Office 2011 for Mac.
