Microsoft Antimalware Service Controler error

Hello experts,

The problem came in as I was setting up a new desktop tower I had ordered for her. I began to clean out some of the preinstalled junk , setting up some favorites, and transferring some of my favorite tools so I could remote assist with the Windows 7 easy connect .

After uninstalling the preinstalled 60 day Trial of Norton (what ever version it was) and then installing the Microsoft Security Essentials , I decided to try my service controller application to make sure it still worked. It failed with an error of “Can not open MsMpSvc service on Computer “.”. Ok, so what does that mean ? I had to add the inner exception message as a return message and got “Access is Denied”. Tell me the solution to fix this issue.

Thanks.

Error Message: Cannot open MsMpSvc service on Computer “.”

 “Access is denied”

Microsoft Antimalware Service Controler error

Hi there Alice R Jones,

The first thing when you get the 'Access is denied' error is to try using the application as an administrator. To do that, right click on the application icon and select the option 'Run as administrator' from the menu.

Also, make sure all your previous antivirus software are removed completely.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you are facing a known bug that happened in some of the previous versions of the MS Antimalware Service. There is no workaround to avoid this message, but you will need to update your software with all available updates to make it work.

Best regards,
Drake Vivian
