Microsoft Access cannot open my file over the network

Good day to all.

I am at office working on my encoding task using Microsoft Access when I met an error. When I opened the file directly from a network folder, an error message appeared on my screen. I pasted below the screen shot of the error.

Microsoft Access

Microsoft Access cannot open this file.

This file is located outside your intranet or an un-trusted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.

To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location.

As I looked on the error message above, I wonder why I can't open the file directly from a network folder. I've been doing this before. The suggestion in the error message is too complicated for me to do.

Please share some other suggestions that might lead me to getting rid of this error message. Thanks a lot.

There are certain issues like this. In my case, what I did was.

  • First, I opened the IE7.  Then I went to TOOLS clicked INTERNET OPTIONS then the SECURITY then clicked LOCAL INTRANET then I clicked on the site's button.
  • Next thing is that I removed the check beside the  'Automatically detect intranet network'  and didn't remove anything from the sub items.
  • After that check the ok button.

And that’s it!! Sometimes there are instances that the compressed file is together with the ntfs. All you need to do is uncompress it. If this doesn’t work, you need to unblock it. In your Windows Explorer, click properties then click the unblock button. You will now be having the access to accept files.
