Hello Techyv buddies!

I am having some issue opening a game when messenger 2009 is open.

I am using messenger 2009 on my windows XP and when I try to open a game while the messenger is on I get the following error:

"ActiveX Objects Missing 2

The Messenger games require ActiveX objects in order to be played.

Make sure you have the ability to install ActiveX objects on this computer and restart the game."

I have tried to figure this one out but I can’t find any solution to it.

Can anyone help solve this problem?

I will really appreciate the effort in helping. Thank you!

Hello Wirt,

Try the following workarounds:

Method 1:

You will need to check your system settings for they may be preventing the installation of the ActiveX controls. Check the following settings:

  • Security
  • Pop up blocker and other related settings.

Also make sure that you system has been updated. The error you are getting could be caused by an old version of messenger.

Method 2:

  • Go to Tools and the Internet options.
  • After that choose Advanced, and there you will see a button named Restore Advanced Settings.
  • Use the same steps above to locate a button called Reset All Zones to Default Level
  • Those actions will restore the IE settings to defaults. After that try running the installation of ActiveX and see if it will work.

Regards,

Carl
