Hey Cassandra Sanchez!

Do you want to scan and fix removable disk? This message prompts in case when you have not ejected the USB last time correctly. The message asks you to fix any error which was occurred due to wrong ejection of the USB. The right way to unplug the USB is by clicking on "Safely Remove Hardware" (on system tray) .

However if you want to disable that message for fixing the USB, you have to follow these steps.

Click on Start and open Run.

Type there services.msc and hit enter.

On the right side, search for Shell Hardware Detection and open it.

In the Startup type, sect Disable by clicking on small drop down arrow.

You will not see this message anymore.

Thanks

In addition to the answer above, you can also resolve this problem by obtaining the latest Service Packs for your Windows. Ensure that before obtaining the latest SP, you already installed Service Pack 1 for Windows and then update it through the Microsoft Download Center. Turn on your Windows Automatic Updates to get all the latest updates for your OS.

Hello Dear,

It is a very good thing that you have this in your system.

In fact, you have installed a security software that scans your removable media when it is attached.

These flash drives have a lot of viruses, because we connect these drives with many computers, and each computer's viruses transfer onto the flash drive.

When you will insert it into your system, these viruses will spoil your data and system.

So, I suggest that you do not disable this utility, which automatically scans and fixes your removable media for viruses and other risks. Thanks.

If Windows keeps prompting you to scan and fix the drive every time you insert your USB flash drive, it means the drive has an error and can’t be recognized. Usually, Windows will prompt you to format the drive because the system can’t recognize the file system it is using. If you have files in that drive, you wouldn’t want to format it because all files will be lost.

Try fixing it first before deciding on formatting it. Download PC Tools Performance Toolkit and install it. Once installed, insert your USB flash drive then start PC Tools. Go to “Recovery” tab then select “Repair Drives”. Select the drive you want to test then select “Repair Drive” among the options. Click “Start” to begin the test then wait until it is complete.

When it is finished, open Windows Explorer then check the drive if it is accessible and then back up the files to your hard drive. If this doesn’t work, just format the drive. On the other hand, if formatting doesn’t fix the problem, you need to replace the drive. This is normal for all USB flash drives.
