When merging two different files with the same name, it remains unchanged. This kind of feature is seen with Windows OS. But, currently, I am using Mac OS. The thing is that I want to use that feature to my Mac OS. Does that feature also apply to Mac OS?

Hi Melanie,

It is also possible merging 2 files with the same name using Mac OS, but you need to download a 3rd party software available on the internet one of the example is LEOPARD or SNOW LEOPARD. To join 2 or 3 different files together simply open the file in preview press (shift+d) do open the thumbnail and drag the existing file to the new file, the 2 documents will now merge as one same as Windows XP.

Thanks,

You can have it done without using any third party tool if you are using Windows 7 or later OS. Just follow these steps and your task will be completed in a moment,

1.       Click on START on toolbar and goto RUN.

2.       Type cmd on the field and hit ENTER.

3.       Now, use this command to merge the two files “copy /b file1.ext + file2.ext resultfile.ext”

By this you will have two files merged in one file named as resultfile.ext

Good Luck.
