Hey, the opening mpp files with excel is a very simple viewer of the Microsoft project and it allows you to open and export the excel files as well. Also it works on various version such as 2003, 2007, 2000 etc and many more. It consist of 2 latest versions i.e. 2.0 and 3.0.Below shows the steps for the same:

• First click on file> Export and then save the project.
• Now double click on Microsoft excel workbook.
• Next save the file and chose locations.
• Now select the data and choose the new maps and its types as well.
• Now export the file and go next
• Later save the map and click on finish.
