Hello,

Lightroom 4.1 has been giving me an error as shown below. It says Master Catalogue cannot be opened. Is there a quick solution for this so that I can stop worrying? It is a good photo software and I would like to resolve the problem soon.

Lightroom cannot open the catalog named “Master Catalogue” located on volume “Photography” because Lightroom cannot save changes to this location.

Lightroom Catalog cannot be opened on network volumes, removable storage, or read only volumes.

Make sure you are logged in to your computer as administrator or your user account has administrative privileges. You will only fix this issue if you are using an account with administrator rights because I think the account you are using is somewhat limited. And another thing is, if you are using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom from a network then there is really no way of opening that catalog.

The catalogs of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom doesn’t support opening it on network drives, removable devices such as external hard drive, USB flash drive and others and especially if the volume is only accessed as read-only. To successfully open the catalog, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom must first be able to successfully save to that volume.

So to fix your problem, you need to make sure that Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is really installed on your computer and not on a network drive or in a network server. Ask your network administrator to install it on your computer so you can access the catalog.
