Hi Kathy!

The reason your Malwarebytes is blocking the antivirus is because 2 antiviruses can’t be used at the same time. I have 2 advices for you. Just pick whichever is more convenient for you.

1. First is you need to uninstall one of your antivirus. You have to choose which between Kaspersky and Malwarebytes you would like to keep. This is because when for instance, you are surfing the web, both of those programs are intercepting traffic to scan for infections. If you are browsing a website that is blocked by Malwarebytes, instead of blocking the browser, it blocks the antivirus instead.

2. On your second option, you don’t have to choose at all. You just have to add “avp.exe” to the exclusions in your Malwarebytes.

Hi Kathy,

Yes, you may see a notification that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has blocked access to a potentially malicious website and the name of the process is that of your antivirus application however it should never block your antivirus from connecting to the internet or downloading updates.

This occurs because many antivirus software(In your Example: Kaspersky Anti-Virus) will intercept with all inbound and outbound traffic to and from your System. This behavior makes Windows believe that, regardless of the process accessing the internet, that the communication is being established by your antivirus’ process, thus Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will believe the same.

As you browse to a website using your Internet browser and if that website is blocked by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, only that the process which will be displayed as being blocked will not be that of your browser, but instead will be that of your antivirus.

So don't worry, just keep surfing as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware only blocking potentially malicious website.
