Hello,

There are several causes for this error to come up when using Adobe reader X.  One of the reasons is the file itself may be corrupt.  If you can, open the file using a different computer with a different version of Adobe Reader to check if the file is corrupt  .The other reason is the space on the server especially if you are opening a large file from the server. Try this fix:

Open Adobe reader then click on edit>>preferences>>internet>>uncheck display pdf in browser.

Hello Donald,

As the error message clearly indicates that the PDF cannot be read and the number in the brackets refers to the number of pages present in the file (in your case it is 14). In addition to conventional possibilities like corrupted file or unfinished downloads, this could possibly be a security breach attempt (intrusion attack) where the attacker is using this file as a mask to get confidential information or gain illegal access to your system. So, you should be careful while dealing with such files and make sure you have set-up security measures on your system to oppose such attacks.
