Mail for Exchange Error – unable to retrieve exchange server

Hi all,

I am using Nokia E71 and I have been trying to connect it to an exchange server, but was unable to do it for so many times now. Of course I am using Nokia’s mail for exchange with this one. I have entered the correct settings already, but still no luck with this one.

My firmware is updated and this is my first time to use mail for exchange. I might be doing something wrong that I’m not aware of. But I have already read and followed tutorials and instructions on the internet.

Unable to retrieve Exchange server name. Enter server name in connection settings.

Please I need someone who could help me fix this problem.

Thanks.

Mail for Exchange Error – unable to retrieve exchange server

The first thing that you should do, should you plan to use the mail service in your Nokia phone is, to set up the exchange email server. Following this basic process provides you with absolutely no errors at all, except of course for some minor glitches and bugs. Anyway, just read through this article, somewhere in between maybe you have made some errors or you missed out on important processes.

On your phone's home screen, select the "Set up e-mail" using the NavKey. A pop-up menu should appear, you have to click on "Start e-mail setup" and select "Start". The setup wizard will prompt you to connect to the network, so press "Allow" to authorize the wizard to access the network. After the connection is established, select "E-mail" and enter your email address. Now, here comes the important part, this is a configuration for e-mail exchange using MS Outlook, so be sure to use your Outlook details. Enter your email password and click "Ok". The wizard automatically pulls up your data. Enter the user name that you regularly use with your exchange email.

After that, the setup wizard will prompt that an additional setup is needed, and this is normal when using Mail for Exchange. The email server that you will use will be "Mail for Exch.", and not any other servers. When the domain name is prompted, enter the domain that you regularly use when accessing the exchange mail.

The Exchange server is provided by the Exchange administrator, and you can ask for it with Microsoft or your company that uses Outlook, and fill the server name. Allow the installation to begin, and select "Continue". Wait for the installation to finish. Here's another catch, never use other synchronization softwares because you may lose some data. After that tedious process, you can now access your Exchange email from your Nokia E71. Change the screen settings anytime after the email is synchronized.

For other e-mail exchange programs not using Outlook, the same processes follow. Nokia support informs its users to avoid using other softwares as some data might get lost during the synchronization process. Other than that, you will basically have no problems when all the right processes are followed.
