MacBook Air is one of the lightest and slim laptops now.

But it has no Ethernet port.

How can someone connect to the internet if there is no WiFi in his location?

Hi Janice,

I have the same problem with my MacBook air computer having no Ethernet port and I definitely understand how it felt especially if there are no available WiFi network around the area.

I have called AppleCare and was told that they offer external Apple USB Ethernet Adapter that you can plug into your USB port and that will provide you an RJ-45 connector that supports 10/100BASE-T performance for $29.

You can try going to this link to purchase online:

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Dear Janice Emond,

It is true that the MacBook Air is one of the lightest and slim laptops now. But as per your concern on how to connect through the internet using wired connection if there is no WiFi connection around you there's a solution for that. Because Apple Computers design MacBook Air this way that's why they didn't include the RJ-45 port for Ethernet.

But rest assured it doesn't mean you cannot use wired connection because you are lacking the RJ-45 port. Apple Computers are prepared for Apple Users like you Ms. Emond. Your MacBook Air just needs the external device called "Apple USB Ethernet Adaptor".

The price of the product as per Apple Store website is $29 but this is also available in your local Apple Store near you. I advise you to buy an Original Apple Product for quality and product compatibility.

For the clarity of the product on how it looks like.

I will include a picture for the product for your benefit.

Apple Store Website:

After buying the product just simply insert it to the USB port on your MacBook Air and there you will have an RJ-45 jack connector that support 10/100 Base-T performance for your wired network. Now you can able to connect to any Wired LAN Network and now you can internet via wired connection.

I hope this one helps your problem and eventually solves your concern.

If you have any IT related concern please feel free to post it here at www.techyv.com.

Thanks,

This is a very important to know the apple's Ethernet port adapter can be misplaced with the docking station it is useful in a office or a place where there is no WiFi; this is due to apple's way to connecting to the internet with its specification of Ethernet port of 2.0 and 3.0; you would want to make sure it is compatible with MacBook Air.

A docking station is a wise choice.

Hope this clears your question to connect to the internet.
