I really need my MacBook for school this week but the hard drive keeps crashing.  This after trying to install a new HD that I got for Christmas.  After installing the HD I restart the computer.  Everything seems fine with a loading screen comes up. After that without warning the computer shuts off. Do this about four times and now It acts like the operating system is gone.  Any suggestions?

Hello Joseph,

There are 2 possible reasons for your issue. Allow me discuss it with you.

1. Faulty HDD

You can test this by installing it into another laptop. If it doesn't work, you will have to bring it your nearest service center for warranty. If it works, proceed to #2.

2. HDD is not compatible with your laptop.

There are 2 things that you should look at here. It could be your motherboard or your OS. Some motherboards are not yet ready to cater large capacity HDDs. While some OS also, those that are old, are not yet capable of handling such. Should these be the case, you might have to replace it with a different model compatible with you laptop.
