When I finished upgrading my Mac book pro to the newest OSX Lion last week, I went on to do the same upgrade on my brothers Mac Book but on this occasion I encountered a difficult problem. This what displayed on the screen.

Mac OS X Lion couldn’t be installed, because the disk Macintosh HD is damaged and can’t be repaired.

This is a screenshot I took from Stack Exchange's Apple site's post because I did not remember how to take one on my brother's computer. Can you help on how to deal with this issue before my brother finds. Please show me in a step by step format because I am not that conversant with the PC. Thank you very much in advance.

This problem has occurred to lot of people.

Just try to do in this way hope this may help.

Insert your Mac OS x installer dvd into the dvd drive. Restart your computer after inserting the dvd into the drive. Then try to press aka key and wait for the start sound. Once you here it try to boot to the disk utilities and select your Hard disk and click on repair permissions once it is done click on repair disk which will remove all bad sectors.

Restart the computer once it is done. You may see the existing OS booting up but don't worry try to install your Mac OS x lion now. Please let me know it works or not so that we can suggest few more solutions.
