Microsoft Lync Server 2010 has made a tremendous enhancement to improve voice quality in making calls. Voice quality issues may occur due to poor network connection. So check your internet connection if it’s working well. You may be using other applications that might be using internet connection. Best is, close them first while making your phone calls. If you are using a wireless connection, try the wired connection and resume the call. Another cause of this issue is your CPU. There are CPUs that is not sufficient to process such applications. You must use a high quality microphone and must not be far from you or your speaker may not be functioning well. So, you must check your internet connection and applicable devices to avoid voice quality issues.

I’m not sure if the problem here should be blamed with your Lync Server 2010. When communicating with another person online using an application either through a video chat, or internet voice call, the speed of your internet connection really matters. Even if you have an expensive kind of software if your network speed is pretty similar to a crawling turtle, it’ll still be disastrous.

If you signed up with your Internet Service Provider on a cabled internet, I don’t think this problem is possible. Connection in a cabled internet, even if it is sometimes packed with users, the speed can still be tolerated. This problem you have most of the time happens when using a 3G or 4G mobile broadband USB modem. Because it is wireless, it relies mainly in the signal it receives for the speed and stability of the connection. If you are using a wireless modem like this one, the best way to deal with this is to transfer to a different location where there is enough or strong signal reception.
