Lync is experiencing connection issues with the Exchange server

Hi, We are using Lync 2010 for our online meetings both in internal and external client laptops/PCs.

However, when an employee tries to connect for an online meeting from the outside office, he gets a connection error with the Exchange Server (see screenshot below).

It seems the network connection is working fine since he can send/receive emails.

Any advice on how to fix the problem?

Lync

Lync is experiencing connection issues with the Exchange server. Lync will attempt to repair the connection until it is fully restored. History, voice mail, and Outlook-related features might be unavailable or out of date until the connection is restored.

Hi BethB,

How are you doing?

I think you have entered wrong credentials that is why you are getting that kind of error. Some users are prompt for authentication after signing in to lync. If you have cancelled the log in prompt, you will really get that kind of error even if you have stayed and sign on to lync.

Please refer to the image below so that you will be enlightened of what I am telling you. EWS or exchange web service will help you solve your problem. All you need to do is change your authentication from kerboros to both, which is showing the 2nd image below.

I hope it helps.

Hello Beth,

To resolve that issue, you will need to check if you  choose "Use Kerberos Constrained delegation for single sign-on" in the authentication method on your UAG. For more guidelines on that visit this site

Another resolution that you can give a shot especially if you have a lot of contacts will be to export them all to a CSV file and after that you can delete the user's contacts.

If there are any special characters, they will not make it to your export so what you will need to do is just import them as new contacts.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl
