Hi,

I am having trouble when tries to migrate Domino 6.5.4. When I try to do this act on currently running on Windows 2003 Standard (32bit) to Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) an error message occurs. The error says “The Lotus Domino Server (DDominodata) service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services OR programs”. Please help me to fix this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Lotus Domino Server error on Windows 2003 Standard

Domino 6.5.4 is not supported on Windows 2008. One runs on 32-bit and the other on 64-bit. You will need to upgrade to Domino 8.5.1 FP3 if you want to run on Windows 2008. Data migration issues still remain and even Lotus cannot provide an easy solution.

Try the following:

  • Stop Domino
  • Copy the data on the new server. Keep it in a separate directory.
  • Install Domino 8.5.1 (FP3) on the new server.
  • Once installation has been finished, copy data in the respective directories, do not attempt to change name of any directories.
  • Only then allow users access of Domino.
