Web based CRM is different from Outlook CRM; there are some points of difference between the two.

1. Outlook CRM is more advanced and provides more selling benefits to online sellers, so it is preferred by them ahead of Web based CRM.

2. Benefit of Outlook CRM is that unlike Web based CRM; it does not required 24 hours of internet connectivity, it also run through software which even can work without an internet connection.

Hi Elaine,

A web based CRM is like a hosted CRM in which your CRM will be available over the Internet. It is generally subscription based in which you either pay a fixed monthly rental OR monthly rental depends on the number of users (pay per user model). In a hosted scenario, all IT related activities such as maintenance, fixes, upgrades are down by the hosting solution provider.

Outlook based CRM is more of a licensed, on-site solution or an in-house CRM. Its managed by in-house IT team. An advantage of using Outlook based CRM could be familiarity with the interface because it is based on Microsoft Outlook, and there's no need to switch between multiple applications. This CRM can be used offline and there are no hassles related to external databases.

While Outlook based CRMs could sometimes be more expensive due to the licensing costs, however everything depends on the your requirements and your specific needs.

You should choose the CRM in which you can easily model your existing business processes.

Hope this post helps you make an informed decision.
