Lock screen without any password login

Hello experts,

I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. prior to the upgrade, when I pulled out my computer out of sleep mode, it brought up the lock screen, then I could click again and it would pull up start screen, desktop, etc. Basically, having a lock screen and without the need for a password login every time. I didn’t originally set up this way, so do not know what the settings were. However, since the upgrade, it seems I can’t have the lock screen without having a password login. I have tried several options I could find, and I can’t find a better way to do this. Can anyone provide a better solution to this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lloyd,

It looks like the upgrade established some default settings on your computer. This can be changed easily. Follow the below steps:

  1. Go to Start and type gpedit.msc and hit enter
  2. In the screen that appears, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization
  3. Enable the Do not display lock screen setting
