If you want a better calendar for your Linux Mint then I suggest that you use Mozilla Thunderbird plus Lightning Add-on.

Apart from it there are many more calendars that you can choose from.

Here are some of them:

• KOrganizer from KDE. 
• Evolution if you prefer GNOME.

I strongly recommend Mozilla Thunderbird as it can be used on multiple computers and also offline.
