Do you think there is another way to link the new data source (for client 2) into the original PowerPoint presentation template created (for client 1) besides choosing ‘edit data’ and using the data linked (from client 1) to revise for client 2?
How can I link an excel sheet to an existing PowerPoint presentation, and will the charts change automatically?

Steps on how to link an excel sheet to an existing PowerPoint presentation
Open the Excel workbook that has the chart that you want (The workbook must be saved before the chart data can be linked in the PowerPoint file.)
Select the chart.
On the Home tab> Clipboard, click Copy .
Open the PowerPoint presentation and select slide that you want to insert chart into.
On the Home tab> Clipboard > click the arrow below Paste, and then do either of the following:
If you want to keep the chart looks and appearance from the Excel file, select Keep Source Formatting & Link Data
If you want to use the look and appearance of the PowerPoint presentation on the chart, select Use Destination Theme and Link Data
