I am presently using Windows 8.1 as my operating system, but I want to upgrade it to Windows 10. But when I am trying to go into the windows update center to check for the windows update, I am not getting any notifications as the Windows update cannot currently check for updates. Please look into the matter. Please provide the answer asap. Thanks in advance.

There are many ways to solve this problem. But I would like to suggest you the best one probably. Try to download the Microsoft Fix It utility software to your computer from: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/fix-windows-update-errors

Run the Microsoft Fix It software, accept all the terms and conditions and install the software. Then click on the icon “Detect problems and apply the fixes for me” and allow the troubleshooter to fix Windows Update problems and then press “Next” button. If this option is not working, you can just stop the Windows Update Service.

To do this:

Press Windows key + R simultaneously to open run command box. Type: services.Msc inside ‘run’ command box and press Enter. Find the option for Windows Update service, then right-click on that and click Stop tab.
