I think .Net is very good for RPG for beginners. XNA is more complicated than .Net, but it can make a better RPG. You may need a lot of trainings and tutorials before you become an expert with XNA. I have attached  a tutorial site and also a forum so that you can have a lot of reference for your learning with XNA.Â
