QR code means Quick Response code. It is a type of 2D barcode used to provide easy access to information with the use of a Smartphone. Mobile tagging is the process of reading a QR code with the use of a Smartphone. The user points the camera of his Smartphone at the QR code then starts a barcode reader app which works in conjunction with the camera.

The app then interprets the code which normally contains a call to action like an invitation to download a mobile app or a link to view a video. The user has to select what action to take whether to accept it and continue with the request or cancel to ignore the invitation. There are two types of QR codes: static QR codes and dynamic QR codes.

Static QR codes are the most common type of QR codes. This is used to broadcast or distribute information to the public. These codes are often displayed in advertising materials like posters and billboards, TV, magazines, and newspapers. The code’s creator can track information about the number of times the code was scanned including the action taken and the operating system of the devices used to scan it.

Dynamic QR codes are sometimes referred to as unique QR codes. These QR codes provide more functionality. The owner or creator of the code can edit the code any time and can target specific individuals for personalized marketing.
