The first step is to verify your email settings. See to it that you got proper server, Username and Password.  Also, check whether you need SMTP to be used. Poor coverage may lead to your data network changing, or if wifi hotspots are changed. Because of this the IP address gets changed.  To prevent this switch to smtp authentication. If problem persists contact your service provider. Hope this helps.

If you want to use an email client to send and receive email messages like Microsoft Office Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, you need to get the correct email settings for your account. When setting up an account, you have two options on what type of account you want to have. You can select between IMAP and POP accounts.

If you select IMAP, when your email client fetches your messages from the mail server, whatever you do with the messages will be final. Like if you deleted all your messages from the inbox, they will also be deleted from the mail server and will go straight to the Trash folder. All actions and tasks are live.

If you select POP, any changes you made from your email client will not affect your messages in the mail server. Like if you move one or two messages from inbox to another folder, the messages will only be moved in your mail client but not in the mail server.

Your messages on the mail server will remain where they are and will not be moved to the folder you selected. If you have a Yahoo account, you can get your correct IMAP and POP settings from Setup POP IMAP Yahoo Mail. To avoid getting that error, make sure you enter the correct settings to your mail client.
