LCD problem please solve it

I got an old Sony STR-V444ES from a friend. It is a receiver but since it’s old, it might not work correctly. When I plugged it in, I got no display or seen any response from the receiver.

I clicked on every button but I am unlucky to make it work. I want to know the possible reason why it is not working and how much will it cost if I will bring this to a technician and made it fix? Will it cost me too much? Does someone have an idea?

I think the power supply has enter to protection or overload mode. The relay is used to off the set whenever trouble is detected and you shall hear the clicking noise.

The repair is usually complicated and expensive. You are lucky if the cause of problem is that electrolytic capacitor is shorted. The estimated cost for replacement of all electrolytic capacitors is $40, assume that you repair by do-it-yourself. If you find a technician to do this for you, the cost could be much higher. If the defective part is power transformer or something like, the cost would be ranged from around $150 to $300.

After all, this set has been used over 10 years, you have to bear in mind that the repair cost could be very high therefore it may not worth to repair.  If you have the required skills you can try to repair by do-it-yourself. And you have to be careful to select equivalent parts because the original part may not be available now.

Thanks and regards.

Since that it is second hand maybe before you get it, it has a problem yet. Because of the oldest of that LCD it cannot be function. Many of its part are now destroyed. It is much better if you will try to buy another one.
