Understanding battery charging issue can be difficult. If the laptop battery is not charging, there is a great possibility that the battery is good but the power management driver has been corrupted.  In order to resolve the issue, all you need to do is to uninstall the power management driver by accessing Device Manager.

Follow these steps to successfully reinstall  power management software in Windows.

First, press  the Start button on your keyboard  and search for Device Manager in the search bar. Next, double click  Battery category to expand it.  From  Battery category, right-click Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and click  Uninstall.
Scan for Hardware changes to Device Manager taskbar.

As an alternative,  select  Action > Scan for hardware changes .

Windows will  automatically search for hardware drivers,  and it will automatically install the necessary driver to manage battery power.  The issue must be resolved after successful installation.

Here is what you can do to resolve this battery issue on your Sony VAIO:

First, check Sony laptop center or its website to see if they have announced any battery recall program. There are some instances that laptop companies are recalling all their malfunctioning batteries. Visit https://s01.esupport.sony.com/battery to check whether your computer or battery pack is included in the recall program.

Second, turn off battery care function. Do this by following these steps: click START button, type VAIO CONTROL CENTER in the search box, then select POWER under power management. In that screen, look for a check box that says ENABLE BATTERY CARE FUNCTION. If it is enabled, disable it by removing the check mark. Now check the charging status of your battery.

If all else fail, get a new VAIO battery compatible with your laptop and see if the problem persists. If your computer works fine with a new battery, it means that your old battery is the culprit. Otherwise, I advise you to go to the nearest SONY VAIO CENTER and have your system checked.
