A laptop and my touchpad is not working

I am using a laptop and my touchpad is not working.  This is a loaner laptop and I'm not sure if this worked before.  Can anyone help?

Can you do the followers:
1. Work off the computer (when the touchpad does not respond book the state fix mastered for up to 15 seconds to break off the machine).
 
2. Unplug everything eliminate the state fabric, including the masses:

External Mouse

If your computer is attached to a docking station, undock it.

Speakers

Printers

Scanners

USB devices

Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)

3. Accomplish reliable the touchpad or your touch has no uncleanness, oil, liquids or nutrient on it (the touchpad has to work a satisfactory occurrence with your touch to wreak right).

Check you function keys. Some computers have a way to disable the touch pad using the combination of the Fn key and a function key (F1 to F12). Check the computer's manual and see if there's a way to disable the touch pad using key combinations. Your touchpad may be off right now so you need to re-enable it. You also need to check the touchpad settings from the Control Panel. Make sure it is not disabled. Check the laptop's website as well if there is a driver for the touchpad. Some computer require the driver to be installed to be able to make use of the touch pad's full functionality.
