My LAN is having problem with connecting 2 home PCs that are using Win XP, few days ago the network was working fine, but now it seems like I can’t ping with the host IP. It works well with the client IP and I can access to it. Is there a problem that the LAN is not working properly and what steps should I follow?

There might be conflicted IP address issue here. Either you have modified the IP addresses manually or there is something changed in the modem or in the windows.

If you have connected both PCs to a modem or a switch or a router. Reset the modem by holding its rest button for about 10 seconds. Once done, go to the internet protocol properties in select the last option of s which has TCP/IP IPv4/IPv6 something. In the next window, choose the option of Automatically detect IP and Automatically detect DNS. Apply it and save it.

Now come to next PC and do the same steps as the first one. Now after few seconds you will be able to browse the internet on each of the PC after the IP conflict is finished.
