Lack of strorage on my Samsung Galaxy S4

I have been using my Samsung Galaxy S4 for a year now. It works fine and it has great features. The problem is, this is a 16GB model of S4, but it is showing only 8.5GB of free memory space. I don't have much files on my phone except for the operating system installed on it and some preloaded apps. Since I cannot remove the OS and some preloaded apps, are there any option where I can increase the memory of my phone?

Hi Donald,

Getting only 8.5GB free spaces in 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S4 is a universal issue. The android version comes up with lots of tinkering from Samsung and thus it takes up a huge amount of internal storage.

You can increase your storage by following a few simple procedures.

Disable Unwanted App

  • Go to Application Manager under Settings options.
  • Select the app you don't use.
  • Click disable.
  • This will free up your spaces a bit.

Samsung Galaxy S4 also comes up with 'Move to SD Card' option which you can use to increase storage.

  • Go to Application Manager under Settings option.
  • Swipe to the Right, it will show you the app running on SD card.
  • Tap on the desired app you want to move.
  • Tap 'Move to SD Card'

You can use any one of them or both of the options to free up your storage.
