To merge 2 partitions in Windows 7-

  1. Start with right clicking on my computer and then select option manage
  2. Then select the disk management option
  3. Right click on one of the partitions and select the delete volume option
  4. Then right click on the other partition and select extend volume option
  5. Extend the volume with the released space from the deletion of the first disk.

That’s it. They are merged.

If your hard drive contains multiple partitions, you can merge or combine them and create one single partition. You can do this in two ways: first, using the Disk Management Tool in Windows 7 and second, using EaseUS Partition Master. If you don’t like installing applications, you can try the built-in tool in Microsoft Windows. Click “Start,” “Control Panel,” “Performance and Maintenance,” “Administrative Tools,” and then “Computer Management.”

In Computer Management window, under “Storage” section, select “Disk Management.” You can also access Disk Management when you right-click “My Computer” and select “Manage.” Right-click the drive or partition you want to merge and can be deleted and select “Delete Volume” to create unallocated space on the drive.

Once the partition is deleted, right-click the drive next to the deleted volume where you want to merge the unallocated space and select “Extend Volume.” Follow the instructions in the Extend Volume Wizard. Since merging partitions using the Disk Management requires deleting a partition or two, this seems not a good idea especially if you have files in there.

If you want to try merging the partitions using EaseUS Partition Master, visit How to merge partitions under Windows 7 for a complete guide.
