My friend bought a laptop but confused how to type because the keys U, I, O, J, K, L, M does not work even though the function Fn + F11 (Num Lock) is disabled. Button only works if pressed together with Fn. maybe there are other friends who know how to keyboard can type without having to press the Fn key again.

Hi! Which laptop brand/model do you guys have? I had the same issue way back and it actually kind of freaked me out, I thought I accidentally broke my laptop keyboard or what not. I was able to resolve it though after some time working on it. Anyways, try any of these steps,   I’m sure one of it will work.

1.       You can enable/disable NUMLOCK by simply pressing either the LEFT or RIGHT SHIFT key together with the NUMLOCK key.

2.       If you are currently logged in to your account on a computer running on windows, you can also try and use the On-screen Keyboard. You can find it in Accessibility under All Programs, Accessories. Use the On-screen keyboard to toggle on/off NUMLOCK.

3.       Pressing the FN button together with the Scroll Lock or Num Lock works also.

First check there is no hardware problem in you laptop keys. If the keys are working with FUN key then it mean that there is some software problem. In hardware problem some one have must apply some fluid like thing to your PC keyboard and that's why they are not working to solve the hardware problem you need a technician.

Although you can check that it is not a software problem and you keyboard is set to the keys designed for to do this go to START and CONTROL PANEL , Select REGIONAL AND LAN….. Here select the language that is preferable to your keyboard and select the Region in which you are using the keyboard it will fix it..

The major point here is that you have to go to LANGUAGES and select DETAILS here select the keyboard type you want to select and which is most preferable to you. It is the software solution for your non operational key. And I hope it will help you a lot.
