While installing XP, keyboard for the first time needs to be detected, when it comes to the partition steps. It might be a problem of USB keyboard drivers not detecting while installing XP on that step.

So try with the PS2 keyboard to start with and check it.

I have two solutions that you can follow to solve your problem.

1. Try going to BIOS. You can access that by restarting your computer. During start-up, texts will appear saying press F2 or ESC (it really differs with each system, just read what it says on yours) to go to system settings. Press it. Once in the system settings, find the tab that has LEGACY USB. Once found, enable it. Restart your computer then try installing again.

2. Use a PS2 keyboard and plug it before you start your computer.
