Hi there,

I just installed KeePass Password Safe and when I try to open the program this error appears every time. The installation went just fine without any errors. Can anyone help me please to fix this error ? Why I cannot open the program ?

Thanks !

KeePass

C:Program FilesKeePass Password Safe 2KPData201.kdbk

Failed to save the current database to the specified location!

Access to the path ‘C:Program FilesKeePass Password Safe 2KPData201.kdbk.tmp’ is denied.

The target file might be corrupted. Please try saving again. If that fails, save the database to a different location.

As a user you must have a composite key for database, that is used for incorrect or corrupt database.

  • First of all, make sure that the key file and password are correct.
  • If yes, then the file that you are accessing, is corrupted
  • In this case, you have to repair the database "functionality of key pass".

The other way to solve the solution is to save the database to a different location. So that the administrator of network have allowed you to "write access."

If you are trying to save a password and the program throws this error, try deactivating your antivirus temporarily. The usual cause of an “access denied” error in a program is the real-time protection of the antivirus. Once your antivirus is deactivated, try saving your password again in KeePass and see if this will work.

If you are using Microsoft Windows Vista or higher, you can also try starting the program as administrator in case the above method doesn’t work. But you need to enter and save the password again because you need to exit the application. Close KeePass if it is running then right-click KeePass, point mouse to “Run as” and then select Administrator.

If this works then you probably want to always start KeePass as administrator to avoid having another database or access denied error. Right-click KeePass then select Properties. Select Compatibility tab then check “Run this program as an administrator” under Privilege Level section and then click OK. After this, KeePass will always open with administrative privileges.

Since you are already using version 2, you probably want to upgrade to the latest version. Download and upgrade to KeePass 2.27 for Windows.
