KB893803v2 Setup Error in WinXP SP3

Hello,

In Windows XP, Service Pack 3 I am trying to use the explanation in this article "Why Do I Get Error 1601 (or 16xx) While Installing NI Software on Windows?"

But suddenly I am receiving an error message: “Setup has detected the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update.”

Please give me a solution. I need to overcome this. Thanks a lot.

Mandy,

This error is encountered when we try to install an update for Windows XP Service Pack 3, without fulfilling the pre-requisite installations for this update. In this case, as the pre-required updates are not available in the system to proceed with this installation, windows throws an error message.

Please check the Pre-requirement updates, which are needed and to be installed on the system before we proceed to this update for Windows SP3. Check for any required WEPOS or WinFLP updates before SP3 update starts.

Install the prerequisite updates first, then restart the system and then now try to install the update for Windows XP SP3 that you need. This would solve the issue.

Thanks.

Mandy,

This is happening because your Operating system has detected that you are installing an old version of the product update (OS) which is not possible for windows to do. If you really need those updates, you need to first uninstall the existing version of the OS.

For example if you have installed Windows XP SP3 installed on your system, and you are trying to upgrade it to Windows XP SP2 (which is downgrade not upgrade). Hence it's not possible for windows to install the update you wishing.

However you can install Windows 7 OS instead. But that will be not called update that is the proper upgrade of your OS.

Dilip
