Jpg scans made on scanner will not open in Gimp 2.8

Hi experts,

I scanned some files with my scanner and saved the files in format .jpg. When I want to open these files with Gimp 2.8 this error appears and it seems like it doesn’t recognize this format. On the website is saying that GIMP supports all the formats. Does anyone have a solution for my error ?

Hi,

Check your files to see whether it opens with any other software. If not, your file is corrupted and you should scan it again.

Otherwise,

– Rename your file extension to .jpg instead of .jpeg

– Put them in Desktop.

– Open Gimp

– Drag and drop your file.

If that doesn't solve your problem,

– Rename the file removing .jpeg or .jpg completely

– Do the above.

Note that Gimp support for .jpeg is still at a preliminary stage. So, it is better you scan the files in any other format.
