Hi ,

I want to install jedit software while using vista as a operating system. But i got the following error message . Why is this happen ?

Error message :

SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device
Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Hello Katherine,

You are getting that error most likely because there could be a problem with the registry entries. To resolve it, you will need to use the following steps:

  1. First, you will start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. And then you will locate and then click the following value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD
  3. Go to the Edit menu, and then click Delete.
  4. After that go to the Edit menu, and then click Add Value.
  5. You will then type VDD in the Value Name box, and then you will click REG_MULTI_SZ for the Data Type, and then click OK.
  6. The Multi-String editor will show up. You will need to leave this entry blank and then click OK.
  7. After that you can quit Registry Editor.
