I allowed a popup message suggesting automatic update of my ITunes and QuickTime to go on. The update was allegedly done as per the message that came back indicating complete update had been done. But to my surprise, since then my iTunes ad safari have completely failed to open. Instead the following error message pops up every time I try opening: ‘’ITunes/safari has encountered an unexpected problem.’’ Reinstalling both have not yielded any help. Kindly assist me.

The cause of the problem is definitely the automatic update that you allowed the pop up message to install. The update may have had malware embedded in it which crashed down the browser and iTunes, and therefore I will suggest that you do the following:

  • You will need to perform a full system scan of your computer using the antivirus that you have installed on the computer. And for that process to be successful, you will need to make sure the antivirus that you are using is up to date.
  • Otherwise you will need to remove iTunes and QuickTime from  your computer and then reinstall them. That process will remove and bugs that have been developed in this two applications and that should fix the problem with safari too.
