Hi all,

Is it possible to use ADIC firm to overwrite DELL? We have just bought a DELL ML6010 almost identical to an ADIC i500 using the DELL firmware and badge! The libraries we have are all ADIC and we would like to use one of the LTO3 storage devices from an ADIC i500 in the DELL computer.

It Fits fine but it is rejected by the library and because it's library´s only drive I cannot rewrite the ADIC firmware with DELL. So I want to know is it possible to overwrite the Dell stuff with ADIC.

I know it´s not recommended and against warranty etc. but I feel I have no other choice.

Hope you can help.

Hi,

When you read the question, the first thing that falls on your mind that this is not by the law. But actually ADIC is supported by Dell and this is not so uncommon as people think. I read from different websites that this is possible, but a lot of skill is needed to complete this task.
You must search online and find a way to rewrite the ROM, which is quite hard indeed. You actually need some expert help here, and all I can offer is just that this task is possible, but it`s not worth the effort..

regards,
