Issues or problems with my new desktop monitor

Good day to everyone!

I have LG 19M35A 18.5" Monitor. I bought it few weeks ago. When I first installed it is working ok. Yesterday when I turned it on it took very long time for the monitor to turn on. I already pressed the power button and turned on my desktop but it keeps on showing blank screen even though the monitor’s power indicator is green. It takes at least 4-5 minutes before I see objects or before it turns up. What is this? Is it normal? Can you provide me guidance on how to resolve this?

Try these approaches:

  • Ensure the VGA cable(cable connecting monitor and system unit) is properly fixed. Or
  • Try the monitor on a different computer with a different VGA cable. Or
  • Reinstall the video driver.

You will then know whether it's a loose connection, a bad monitor, a bad VGA cable or a bad video card.

If any of these does not work.

Open the monitor to get to the power supply board and detect bulging capacitors. If you find any, replace them and the monitor will be working well again.

That behavior is not normal for a monitor. If that is an analog display, the problem could be with the picture tube or a component in the board. But since it is an LED display, there is no picture tube to check. Either way, the monitor needs to get serviced. The problem there is internal and an electronics technician needs to check the components in the board.

Try also connecting the monitor on another working computer then see if the behavior is the same. If the display is working fine there then you need to replace your video card. But with this problem, I doubt it if the problem is with the video card.
