The Autorun feature when loading a disc either from a virtual drive or using the actual CD/DVD drive is controlled from the configuration of Microsoft Windows. The Autoplay setting in Group Policy of Microsoft Windows affects the functionality of Autorun on CDs. By default, Autorun is disabled on removable drives like floppy drives and network drives except CD/DVD drives.

When you insert a disc on the optical drive that contains the “AUTORUN.INF” file, the computer will execute whatever command is inserted in the [autorun] section of the file. It will also automatically play music when you insert an audio CD. But usually, it starts the installation of the disc if it is a setup CD.

If the Autoplay feature is disabled from Windows then it affects all drives on the computer. To configure Autoplay in Windows, click Start, Run, and type without quotes “gpedit.msc” then hit Enter. In Local Computer Policy, go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System. On the right of the screen, double-click “Turn off Autoplay”.

In Settings tab, select either Not Configured or Disabled and then click OK. See image.

Autorun is now enabled on your computer. If this doesn’t fix the problem, try downloading and installing the latest version from UltraISO – Softonic.
