My iPod Touch is not charging neither on the wall socket nor on my laptop. What should I do? When I plug it to the wall, it will turn on but then off again. The same thing is happening on the laptop.

I can't even connect it to iTunes. It's not also registering on My Computer.

Hi Susan Coleman,

Step 1:

First of all try connecting your device through following sources if it doesn’t help go ahead and put your device into recovery mode in the Step 2.

  • Upgrade iOS by connecting it through iTunes.
  • Press and hold home button.
  • Try charging your device for more than 10 minutes with the help of USB cable & connect it to the computer. Now, when the charging plug is on try resetting your iPod by pressing home screen button & power button at the same time for more than 10 seconds (this solution works most of the time).
  • Proceed to step 2 if none of the stated solutions resolve your problem.

Step 2:

You need to place your device into Recovery Mode. Follow the steps to put your device into Recovery Mode:

  • Do not connect your device with any USB or charger. Now turn the device off.
  • Here’s the tricky part, press and hold home button and connect your device with USB to your computer. Now your device should start up!
  • If you can see the charging cell then let it charge to its limit. Now once again press and hold the home button until you see connectivity screen on your iPod.
  • Now on your iTunes you should see “recovery mode alert” message.

You’re done!
