IPhone LCD is erratic and jumpy on occasions.

Hello! I have an iPhone 5s that I bought an year ago. It worked all fine until it fell from my hand last night. It turns on and all other features work fine except the touch. The screen is erratic and jumpy. I click on one app and it opens app adjacent to it or some other app. The click is not where it should be? Is my touch screen completely damaged? Or can the touch screen be repaired?

Upon my research on the subject, it seems many people have also dropped their iPhones, and as a result, have had the same problems as you. Some way that when you dropped your phone, perhaps a cable or wire has come loose, thereby making your phone erratic and possibly unresponsive? But they also say that if a cable was loose, theoretically you wouldn't be able to do anything at all.

Unfortunately, it looks like you'll have to completely replace the touch screen. Nobody seems to have a solution as to how to repair it yourself.

I would try going to an Apple store to positively confirm this, but I did find one of the results was from the forum on the Apple website.

Hello, Thomas!

If the touch screen does not work properly then the best place to start in troubleshooting any screen responsiveness issues is to make more system RAM available, such as clearing the app cache or using third party apps. When a touch screen is being unresponsive then should use the native apps which can resolve many touch screen detection problems that is localized to a particular portion of the display.

Please check, too, that the USB cable you use that is original. Because this problem occurs when you use wrong USB cable. Also check that the USB port you are using is generating the regular voltage. Because if it is generating the high voltage that can harm your device. So check both there is a problem with any of these.

Hello,

Carefully examine the body, case, and screen of your phone for irregularities (e.g., gaps, pieces that are not flush, or loose pieces). Gently return components to their proper position. Do a soft reset of your device. If this does not work, backup your personal files and applications in the cloud and on storage media. Perform a factory reset of your device and follow the steps to set up your phone.

If this does not solve your problem and you are still under warranty, you must seek the services of an authorized technician. Apple services will repair the phone free of charge.
